MARIO LAINEZ

Paul Wilkin – Scholastic

Background: Paul grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio within a Catholic family of eight children separated by 14 years. His favorite subjects in high school were world geography and art. He was not a stranger to extracurricular activities, participating in his schools’ marching and pep bands, and as a member of the track and cross country teams. In addition, he played soccer on city leagues.

Paul attended the Antonelli Institute of Art and Photography (AIAP), earning an associate’s degree in commercial art before returning to college for night classes at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio, to earn his bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

Paul then lived on a rural island for 18 years which was accessible only by ferry boat. Before coming to the Salvatorians, Paul was the owner and graphic designer of a full-service marketing and design firm – Gargoyle Design – for 17 years.

Why the Salvatorians?
“With my diversity of being a jack-of-all-trades” I’m drawn to the Salvatorian words ‘by all ways and means’,” he said. “I want to be out there as an Apostle and to draw on the wisdom of the Church to help others in the cultural atmosphere using modern technology. I feel a calling to adapt the presentation of the truth without changing the truth.”

Hobbies: Photography, illustration, motorcycle touring, woodworking, gardening, genealogy and listening to old time radio programs.
